February 2019 Pre Cruise
Pre cruise started with the normal trip from Athens to Atlanta on Feb 6th. I
stayed at the same Airport Econolodge that I have stayed at before. It is
basically a nice hotel that suffices to insure that I get to the airport in
time
Early morning Feb 7th, I got a shuttle to the airport arriving at 6:30am. By
6:53 I had checked into the airport, gone thru security and at a small cafe
next to the gate. I had a very nice breakfast and an easy wait for my
flight.
The flight left on time, and was uneventful. The one snag, I was notified
prior to the flight that my checked bag was loaded on an earlier flight.
During the flight I received notification that the bag had arrived at was at
baggage claim 1. When I arrived my bag was no where to be found. After
seeing most of the bags from my flight arrive, I checked with the baggage
claim office who told me to file a complaint (which I did later). A few
minutes later my bag appeared.
Leaving the airport we had a nice lunch at a small bar and grill "Scooters".
A nice Philly Cheesestake Sandwich and tea.
Thursday night was the anticipated Trivia night at Duffy's. As three we were
competing against groups of 10. We did well, but didn't win.
Friday was a short trip to the National Navy Seal/UDT Museaum in Port St
Lucie. It is an interesting look at the history of the Seals, with many
static displays of equipment used, along with videos highlighting some of
their operations.
Saturday night in Hobe Sound was a trip to a local restaurant/bar
Harry and the Natives. The
restaurant has a nice menu and a great atmosphere. We were there to see a
group called
The Old Hippies,
a good sounding group playing folk and rock from the sixties. It was a good
show, the food was good, and the drinks mixed well. All in all, a very good
evening.
